Pster
Would this work as an independent activity for 4.5 and almost 6 yo's? I'm not sure of how much it costs (I forget) and I'm not sure I *really* need it .....but..... I was thinking ...... if they would be able to do activities on the computer on their own or if they need an adult to be there with them. ty
Cynful
I feel like the odd one out here as so many people just love Time4Learning, but I did not, nor did either of my children. Even my 8 year old, whom I consider very bright, had a hard time figuring out how to do everything and where to go. I had hoped they could use this on days where I was busy with my business or sick, etc. but they needed my help so much it didn't help me at all in the way I was hoping. I wasn't happy that each lesson didn't "disappear" after they finished it either. They could log back in later and then have to figure out where they had left off but if they made a mistake, they'd go through the same lesson all over again. Maybe they (and I) were doing it wrong though, so not sure. I'm glad we tried it, but it just didn't work for us. I also think, as a core curriculum, they were really missing out on my one-on-one attention. Hope it helps,
Mom2GirlsTX
for a couple of months. I was not all that impressed, there were parts that were good, but my youngest found it difficult to navigate (she is 8) and my 10 year old was bored with it. I know many love it, and maybe you will too, it just wasn't a great fit for us. The only way it would work with my 8 year old was if I stayed with her the whole time to do each activity which I felt ate up to much time we could be doing on other things. Grace
I will be the odd-man-out here and say we like time4learning. My almost 7 year old navigates it just fine. The only problem we have ever had is you have to close down the program the correct way or else it doesn't mark your lesson as "completed". I rarely sit with him. I will sit with him and look at the stuff he didn't master and do it with him or check to make sure he is balancing his time between LA, math and science, maybe once every other week or so. I only use it as a supplement. To me it is worth the $20 because it has him doing independent work while I get the older siblings started. I would rather have him do time4learning than spend his time playing Legoland or Webkins. We have tried the educational cd games but he has a tendency to play the same game over and over. I like time4learning better because the lessons are different each day.
