Parrothead
The like this button. Is this an internal tool only used at TWTM forums or does it ever go to facebook? The share buttons. Can these affect non-social media people? Is there a way to disable the functionality for people who want to keep their social media separated from TWTM forums? If so, will someone with tech knowledge explain how to do this? The status updates Is this an internal tool only used at TWTM forums? Does it ever go to facebook or twitter or other social media? Can we have an emergency name change day? I think a lot of people were members here long before facebook came into play for the general public. Some people use their names and locations as their user names here and are coming to realize that privacy is very much an issue. Perhaps a day when anyone who wants to change their name gets a chance to do this without it going to the "previous names" info block on a person's user page. If someone actually uses the share button options what exactly do they do? How much info is passed along to social media?
NavyMommy
I would love that. All things I have been wondering.
Clear Creek
The like this button. Is this an internal tool only used at TWTM forums or does it ever go to facebook? Strictly an internal tool; it does not link to anything outside the forum. The share buttons. Can these affect non-social media people? Is there a way to disable the functionality for people who want to keep their social media separated from TWTM forums? If so, will someone with tech knowledge explain how to do this? It is basically a shortcut to copy and paste a link to any page on the forum to an outside location, specifically social media sites. The shortcut can be disabled (and is temporarily), but in reality the ability has and always will be there. Anyone, anywhere on the entire world wide web, can copy a link to any page on any website and paste it somewhere else. That is all that those little icons do. The status updates Is this an internal tool only used at TWTM forums? Does it ever go to facebook or twitter or other social media? Another internal, forum-specific tool. This is addressed in another thread. If someone actually uses the share button options what exactly do they do? How much info is passed along to social media? It is a link to the page that they were viewing, same as if you copied and pasted the web address.
WagsWife
Excellent! This should be pinned!
Parrothead
Yes, I have the answers to all of the questions. I wasn't asking for answers to them. But a sticky thread pinned to the top of the page with official answers from either the Overmind or Other John or someone "official". That way things wouldn't be rehashed all the time. It would also save newbies from having to read multiple posts and that mega post with 200+ threads to find the answers.
