Vegan finger food buffet? Any ideas?

Recommended Posts

What I normally do is:

veggie cream cheese pizza - baked pizza crust topped with vegan cream cheese (I mix garlic powder in mine) and chopped broccoli, cherry tomatoes and shredded carrots on top. This is always the first thing to go.

Then there's hummus (I make red pepper hummus) with veggies and crackers.

bruschetta

various olives and pickles

bread bowl with dip (use vegan mayo and sour cream with dill and onion, or a vegan pre-made mix)

stuffed celery (vegan cream cheese sprinkled with paprika)

vegan meatballs in sauce

vegan breaded mushrooms with some type of dip (I like a vegan Ranch dressing I have available by me)

chips and salsa

potato skins

-taquitos (taste good even after they go cold), salsa, guacamole

-If you live near an Indian market... aloo parathas cut into triangles and samosas (both found frozen). Served with chutneys.

-stuffed mushrooms with vegan meat, onion, and bread crumb stuffing (here's the meat I use http://www.lightlife.com/Vegan-Food-Vegetarian-Diet/Gimme-Lean-Sausage)

-fruit, cheese, and nut platter using the new Daiya wedges http://daiyafoods.com/, fun cracker assortment, fig spread, quince paste, etc

-ceviche with crackers using this: http://www.vegeusa.com/VegeUSA/products/vegan_shrimps.html

The fruit and veggies are easy. Grains are pretty easy too. It's the protein that requires some thought. So often vegetarian choices are lacking in that regard.

Nuts, nut butters, seeds, lentils, beans, tofu, and chick peas are all worth considering.

Little peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches, mini banana muffins with walnuts, veggie sushi with sesame seeds, hummus with pita and veg dip, bean dip with tortilla chips, etc. are all good choices. Read the labels, obviously.

Pretty much every food has protein in it. Meat is not the only form of protein. :) So, vegetarian choices are not lacking in that regard. :)
