Any Science Fusion users out there?

I just got in at the last minute for the last HSBC buy, and have a couple quick questions.

Are there print teacher's materials? What are those materials like? I am seeing them referred to in the pacing guide quite often and am wondering if the home school edition includes it.

Thanks!

Yes as far as hard copy you only get the student text. All of the teacher's resources (tests, labs etc) are available through the online account.

Oh good! As long as they're available somewhere. I don't suppose they're in any kind of print friendly format? If it's what I was shown in the preview, it doesn't look like it...

How bad is it that I'm considering an ipad mostly because of Science Fusion? :blushing:

I sent an email to activate my account after I received my books. This is for the group buy that was supposed to be available on Sept 24. I'm still waiting for activation. The books only arrived last Wednesday. I opened the book and sent the activation email immediately. Several days later I got a reply telling me it would take 5 business days to activate. I'm still waiting.

I can't figure out who to call. Ugg, not happy!

I got 3 units of it. It is ok but not great. There is still a lot of me needing to do stuff which I hate. The teacher edition is very small and not easy to navigate at all. DD is doing it and getting some science out of it so that is all I ask. I just really wanted something that led her more through the lessons.

Click on the tag below to see other posts re SF. Many of us have a love/hate relationship w/ SF. Yesterday dd9 learned about mitosis. Last week she was studying a topic that ds said he didn't learn until high school bio.:tongue_smilie:

I don't assign lessons. We do the next thing. No labs. It is great for independent learners who like to learn on a computer.

HTH!

Who did you e-mail? HSBC usually handles things like activation for online account type programs. Any chance what you are looking for might be under the subscriptions tab when you log in at HSBC?

I have several subscriptions listed under mine from past co-op buys (Mark Kistler, Meet the Masters etc.) I'm going to be bummed if it's not the usual straightforward process. We'll already be starting late Oct. as it is...

I went ahead and ordered grade 4 for my youngest, and modules A, B and C for my middle schooler. I do hope for it to be fairly independent as I need to invest my real time this year into high school math and science. I realize I will have to keep an eye on them and gather stuff etc.

Both kids are very computer savvy. It is highly unlikely they'll need my help with the website. No doubt they'll soon be showing me how it all works. :tongue_smilie:
