GAPeachie
I am looking for some ideas for toys for two toddler boys. (3 and 2) My 3 old is literally like a ping pong ball. He just has SO much energy. In the summer we spend alot of time outside, but with a new baby and winter coming I just know that won't happen as often as what he will need. I was thinking about one of those mini trampolines but I figured I'd ask here. (And yes, we've already looked a dietary causes. We are doing a gluten free trial right now and he has extensive food allergies so we've kept food diaries, etc.)
Whereneverever
I have a My First Trampoline with a surround net in the basement.
AndyJoy
Definitely a mini trampoline. We didn't bother with one with a bar or net. We bought ours at 10:00 pm at Walmart because DS had been inside all day and WOULD.NOT.SLEEP. I also bought him a tension-hung chin-up bar for the doorway of his room. He hangs and swings on on. If you have the room and a safe space, another idea is basketball hoop like this one. Ours is outside in a fenced courtyard so I can send DS out there alone occasionally, but a friend put one in her living room for her 3-year-old when she was pregnant. He also gets a lot of use out of his small Little Tikes slide, but I wouldn't pay full price for one. I got it from a neighbor for $5. Tap
The small tramp barely gets used, but the peanut exercise ball.....is well loved!
Unicorn.
My kids used to have a Little Tykes slide that they loved to play on in the house. If you have the room, we also allowed trikes inside. Or a plasma car! My dc didn't have a trampoline, but jumped on the couch and an old crib mattress. hth
ElizaG
For independent play (that is, until someone starts screaming ;)): Rody horse Bilibo Ride-on toys Sit & Spin Toddler balance board Balance beam or "stepping stones" Adult-led (that is, until you want to scream... ;)): Kimbo, Hap Palmer, Greg & Steve, or other music & movement CDs
Sara in AZ
We got a mini tramp with a bar for my son at that age. It was such a hit! He (and his sister) literally wore it out. It also played music, I think.
Desert Rat
I used to bring our outdoor plastic jungle gym toys inside when the kids were little. I kept them in my very big kitchen. Saved my sanity. I also second the mini tramp.
Celia
I think an indoor trampoline is a great idea. I also love this http://www.4thekidstoystore.com/rainy3pccombo.html for my kids. It's an indoor swing/trapese. Gets used daily here!
Zuzu822
For independent play (that is, until someone starts screaming ;)): Rody horse Bilibo Ride-on toys Sit & Spin Toddler balance board Balance beam or "stepping stones" Adult-led (that is, until you want to scream... ;)): Kimbo, Hap Palmer, Greg & Steve, or other music & movement CDs These were most of my suggestions. We have Rody Ponies for each boy and several ride-ons as well. We've done the balance board too. Hullabaloo is a good game for getting out wiggles. A few giant cushions go a long way too (unless you don't mind the furniture coming apart-- I finally had enough!).
MissKNG
My girls extremely active, non-stop girls have those red bouncing balls. The ones they can sit on and hop around with. I think they are called red hoppers.
craftyerin
We have a small trampoline with a bar. I bought an adult one instead of a kid one based on Amazon reviews and have been very pleased with its durability. We have a Rody horse, a chin up bar on his doorway, a pair of rings from Ikea hanging from his ceiling for hanging and general monkeying around on, and a fenced in backyard that I can see the entirety of from the kitchen window. Even at 2 and 3, I'd send them out alone, and open the kitchen window or leave the back door open so I could shout. As my busy one (my 5yo) got older, bikes and scooters and the basketball hoop in the driveway have become more popular.

I recommend buying a good quality one through Amazon versus the $10 one from Target.
GAPeachie
WOWZIE! Thanks! I already thought about bringing our slide inside. Some of these ideas will have to wait until Christmas... But that is great because Jan/Feb is when we REALLY start going stir crazy! :)
redheadmom
Another "toy" that my kids loved were play tunnels and tents. They can be folded up and stored easily. Most of them can be combined to expand. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12546307 You can also combine them to expand. Clarkd
The above are all great ideas. I would add the game Elefun. My kids loved that game also Hulaboo. I don't know thw name of the toy but they are round plastic step stools one for each foot with a string the child holds. The child walks on them like stilts. Also, Moon Shoes were a big hit at our house.
Myra
My boys were into building big time at that age - so I kept several sheets and blankets and also a huge set of wooden blocks in all shapes and sizes. My "playroom" was always chaotic looking and hard to walk through because of all the building going on but it helped me keep some of my sanity. TGHEALTHYMOM
OHH! I have a love - hate feeling for this post. Not against anyone on here. My ds 10 has torn up 2 mini trampolines, a pack n play ( brand new!) several radio antenna, all of my yoga balls, and even his own bouncy ball with the handle. I now have a deflated Rody! I was just wondering what to get for our 3 year and 5 year old boys : I think a bouncy castle would be ideal! But they would tear that up too! I need a rubber room. All of our games get destroyed. And yes I put them up high on a shelf. I will have to start looking at the thrift stores again. Even some toys they got at Christmas have been broken ( they were not sturdy at all and gifts from relatives) Moon shoes were a flop here. Maybe they were defective?! mo2
Definitely a mini trampoline. Get one with a bar for him to hold on to while he jumps. Aside from that, we do a lot of moving our furniture around to make an obstacle course.
jinascaria
During winter season you cant even think of playing outside. An Indoor Playground Equipment will suit your use. Your kids will enjoy this play structure for sure. Edited December 8, 2016 by jinascaria
4Kiddos
Do your boys like vehicles? I have three really busy boys and they all love running around the house pushing bigger trucks and cars. It seems like all they did when they were smaller was push around cars and trucks. I have had to find really nice sturdy ones but they get so much use. We like Bruder plastic ones and Fagus wood trucks. Wood is always better for durability. I also purchased two trucks from this etsy shop and they still are going strong: https://www.etsy.com/shop/mikebtoys ETA: I just noticed this is a really old thread. :) Edited December 8, 2016 by 4Kiddos
matrips
When my three were that age, we had a Little Tikes bounce house that I'd blow up, a mini trampoline with a handle, ride on toys and tricycles that we let them ride indoors, a Kangaroo Climber, a tunnel, pop up tent/houses that connected to the tunnels, you vacuums and strollers to push

Gentlemommy
We got a gorilla gym last year and it has been one of the most used 'toys' in our house. My oldest is 11 and still uses it. Worth every penny. https://gorilla-gym.com
Meadowlark
You can see that I have 3 boys, so this post made me chuckle a bit because I have SO been there. We have literally turned our basement into a "large motor" zone. We have a trampoline (not mini-one of those from Sam's that takes up 1/4 of our basement), a basketball hoop where many many games of ball are played, hockey nets and sticks for indoor hockey play, 2 of those jump balls where they sit and bounce around, also one of those basketball games that pull out from the wall. It probably sounds a little overboard, but we have winter here for 4-6 months and I can safely send them down there to be "crazy" when I'm about to GO crazy. In fact, my husband and boys are currently playing a rousing game of basketball as I type this. I realize not everyone has the room, but I think a large motor area is awesome for little kids if you can work it out.
Professormom
I second mini trampoline. Also, those pull up bars that go in doorways. And, a circular route that they can run through the house without killing themselves... or anyone else:-) We also had a basketball hoop in the basement, nerf guns, etc. And wrestling is allowed. Lots of wrestling. I know how you feel. My guys were both daredevils. Good luck :D
Rush
Rody horse Bilibo Ride-on toys Toddler balance board That's what we had + Big Bobby car and Bobby quad, balance bike, a fitness mat for stretchings, walking cups, games like ring toss, mini bowling game, mini golf, lots of balloons and the biggest hit was and still is a fitness ball. We have two of them. My boys like to roll from the middle of the room to the sofa on their bellies ). Lots of cd's with fun music to dance

bethben
I always wanted something like this in my unfinished basement when my 16 year old was little: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/192669690286808531/
mellifera33
Zombie thread! But I'll add to it anyway. :) We are putting a swing in the school room this year. I've been thinking about it for years, and we're finally going to do it.
