hsmom
If so how did your child do with the transition? I am considering the move and wanted to know if after using McRuffy they seemed well prepared to do Horizons math. Thank you in advanced for any information and help. edeemarie
I have not transitioned from McRuffy to Horizons, but we "tried" transitioning from McRuffy to Saxon. As far as a "traditional" math program I think McRuffy is a bit ahead (after finishing McRuffy 3 my son almost tested into Saxon 6/5- the only thing he didnt know was percentages). I would take Horizon's placement test, which I believe you can find on Sonlight's website. Any math transition can be tricky just because different math programs teach skills in different order and in different ways, but I think the placement test will give you a good idea of where to start. Best of luck:)
