dsmith
I guess this is another one of those perimenopause things, but the insomnia is driving me crazy. Every night this week I've been up until 4am, but last night was the worst. I haven't slept yet!! I'm so tired.:glare: I am taking drastic measures and popping a muscle relaxer out of desperation. How can I fix this problem without resorting to wacky sleeping pills? I've tried melatonin, Valium, Xanax, nothing. It's not an anxiety issue; I just can't fall asleep. Once I'm asleep I stay asleep, but I can't sleep the day away. I think that would just make the issue worse. Help! Hopefully I won't be reading any suggestions for a few hours due to the muscle relaxer knocking me out.:001_smile:
momto2Cs
Multi-step idea... Take a magnesium supplement daily About 45 minutes before you head to bed, take melatonin (I know you said it doesn't work, but in conjunction with the magnesium, it is worth a try) Either spritz your bed with lavender, or take a bath/shower with lavender Drink a calming cup of herbal tea Do a meditation exercise I learned ages ago that helps me when I can't get to sleep: breathing in and out deeply, and slowly, visualize all the stresses of the day pouring out of you (pick a color or colors to do this), and then fresh, calm energy flowing in (a different color). Make sure you're in a dark room with no distractions. Does white noise, like a fan, help?
