Lightening Literature - 19th century American Literature and their grammar syllabus

Recommended Posts

If you've used this, what exactly is on their grammar syllabus.

I am trying to create a complete language arts program without using a separate grammar program.

I want literature, writing, spelling, and grammar. What is done for each of these components. How much writing is instructional using LL?

Thanks

Ame

I have used LL and there was no grammar with it....it was just literature and writing - no spelling or grammar. They did recommend a separate vocabulary book...

The only grammar I can find at their site is Winston and that would definitely be done separately.

I wish I could help you but I am confused - I can't find the grammar syllabus you mentioned!

OOPS! Sorry, I didn't see the "grammar" part of your post title! I do think the grammar syllabus goes with the Write Source materials. Although, I don't really know that one would need it. Those books are set up pretty systematic from what I've seen.

**I actually have this (LL syllabus). It is really geared toward students enrolled in Hewitt. I did not find it helpful at all. It did not have daily assignments or anything...more of an overview of what is expected each year 9-12. The schedule in each LL level is more helpful as far as a schedule goes.

Hi -

We did LL grade 7 and 8 and there was only one page or so of grammar. It doesn't "sell" itself as a grammar program but rather a literature program so if you are looking for a program that has speeling and grammar in it, then LL is not for you!

Here is their Yahoo group link... the moderator is one of the authors of LL and is very prompt about answering questions!

As others have commented, LL at the highschool levels does not have grammar. (And at lower levels, i.e. 7-8 the grammar is very limited.)

Good luck in your search.
