Totally creepy!

Recommended Posts

The weather was decent so I decided to take the kids out to ride their bikes. Our "neighborhood" consists of one short cul-de-sac and one narrow road that some people speed down. Kind of boring and a little unsafe. So, I decided to take them to the neighborhood right behind us. That consisted of going to the main arterial, turning right, going to the next road, and turning right again. Once there, we have a mile long residential street and quite a few cul-de-sacs where it is safe to ride.

Anyway, while we were riding one direction down that long street, a guy was walking the opposite way. The way he watched us as he walked was kind of uncomfortable. We reached the end of that long street (or rather the major road I didn't want to cross), we turned around and came back towards home. That same guy was standing outside a house holding a dog leash (no dog in sight) and watched us for a couple of blocks as we approached and a couple of blocks after we passed. He didn't speak to us, say hello, nod, or anything. Just watched us. It was creepy.

So it's a few hours later, and I was looking for crime information or a police number to get crime information so I can determine if the woods/preserve next to us is safe enough for my older kids to go play and/or fish over there. I found a crime map and there were a few reports on it. One of the reports was a sex offender right where we saw that guy. And, while I'm not totally sure, he kind of looks like the same guy. The sex offender registry guy has wild hair sticking up while the guy we saw today has nicely combed hair. Both look like they are partially Asian. The offender guy is 6'5". Today's guy was tall but I wasn't close enough to know, for sure, if he was that tall. His crime was child molestation of the third degree and assault in the 4th degree.

I was hoping that my older kids would be able to ride their bikes in that area on their own. After this, I'm pretty sure that area will be off limits without an adult.
