OLG
After many failed attempts at locating any threads on this via 'search', what do you describe as the key skills you use in homeschooling? What would you put on a resume under say, a summary of skills? I have launched my ds and really need to get back in the work world after homeschooling since second grade figure I need to start compiling a list of skills! Thanks for any help. Catwoman
The skills I use are: 1. Patience 2. More patience. 3. Swordsmanship (in case the whole patience thing doesn't work out.) For resume purposes, I guess you'd list things like planning and organizational skills, teaching skills, researching skills, course development skills, and time management skills. (I don't actually have most of those skills, but you probably do. :D) Edited January 17, 2012 by Catwoman

elegantlion
I actually put homeschooling on a resume that I submitted last fall. Here are some of the terms I might pick from: Project development including research and implementation Networking skills technology skills including software and Internet Knowledge of office products Organizational skills Conflict management self-education or maybe self-studied in the area of ______________. Leadership skills including decision making and accountability I also put adhering to state regulations for home educators I worked in customer service and in a few office jobs before ds was born. You'd might be surprised that you use a lot of the same skill set in homeschooling.

JFSinIL
Organization, definitely! Plus the ability to devise appropriate education goals for a variety of ages, research for and locate appropriate materials to meet both those goals AND the individual learning styles of each student, and the skill to facilitate learning in the home environment. Oops - I am slipping into academic-babble.
