I will say middle school level. it starts talk about chemicl formula and how the bond form.

1 question for example in ch 14 ask

How many grams are there in 2.3 x 1023 atoms of silver?

another example q

What is the boiling point of a solution containing 46.3 g MgSO4 and

299 g H2O?

It is more advanced than I thought would be

Oh, dang... here is where I come clean and admit that I own a Kobo and all kinds of PDF ripping / converting software, so I could easily read it on-screen. I just adore the feel of reading from a book.

Luddite, I know.

But y'all are right, of course. Print worksheets as needed, read the "sucked-out" text on-screen.

Drat, drat, drat. Dead trees, I sure will miss you! :-(((

My dd6 is going through an astronomy obsession right now; I would love to begin this right away! But I am going to sit on it. I did get the Intelligo Astronomy unit study (free from hsbc!), just to tide her over.

On the plus side, I just looked and it looks VERY useable and fun. Right up our alley, and only $25 for everything!

We are using Mr. Q next year....Elementary Chem for the 1st graders and Advanced Chem for 6th and 7th grader. My middle schoolers are quite excited about the cooking labs in advanced chemistry :) Yay for the sale!

Great. I am thinking about the advanced chemistry for my oldest for next year. She will be in 7th grade. I think she will love the labs.

I'm a big fan of the ESP labs, and the very doable scope and sequence. This really can be used as a spine for older students keeping a large family all together.

I really do wish he would publish a more concise, black and white version.

The truth is that I just don't do well STUDYING and PLANNING on a computer screen. I like B&W efficiently formatted 8x11 pages spread out all around me on the floor, that I can scribble all over.

Bedell and Mr. Q are my favorite curricula, but neither is perfect. I go back and forth with them.

Bedell gets done. It just gets done. And done is better than a "better" curriculum that doesn't get done :-0

I've been debating whether to finish buying Mr. Q or to finish buying Bedell. Before I'm done, I'm sure I will own all of both, so I should probably just get the Mr. Q even though I'm in a Bedell phase.

Good news: because the fonts are SOooo large and clear, I am able to read the PDF very clearly even on my Kobo, which doesn't usually play nicely with PDFs. It just displays the full page and it's readable, text, graphics, the whole shebang.

If anyone's curious, I extracted the "readable" lesson pages of the StudentFullCopy.pdf student book into a separate PDF:

5-12,17-23,27-34,38-44,49-56,60-67,71-77,81-87,93-100,104-111,115-122,127-134,140-147,151-158,164-171,175-182,187-194,198-205,209-218,222-229,235-242,246-253,257-263,268-274,278-286,291-298,302-309,313-321,327-333,337-345,350-357,362-368,374-381,386-392,397-403,408-413

(A bit geeky, but this might be helpful to somebody so they don't have to sit and count pages like I did.)

So now I have two PDFs: one with "printable" worksheet/student pages and one with the "readable" science text. I haven't begun to tackle the parent book yet, which looks more complex.

I wanted to add that I have been using BrainPop in conjunction with MrQ's science. Doodle is working through both Life and Earth Science this year. I can always find movies that correlate very nicely to our MrQ units. Yesterday we read chapter 31 from Life Science. Today we watched the cell movie on BrainPop and took the quiz afterwards. The attached picture was drawn by Doodle yesterday during our lesson. We love Mr Q!
