Kareni
I enjoyed reading this very much. I hope you'll enjoy it too. http://harvardmagazine.com/go/jkrowling.html Regards, Kareni
mcconnellboys
Thanks so much for this, I really enjoyed it. I did not realize that she studied the classics. We have just been talking about the poor gentleman who was hit by the car, and there are numerous other instances we've discussed in past on these boards that I think one of her statements apply to beautifully: "What is more, those who choose not to empathise may enable real monsters. For without ever committing an act of outright evil ourselves, we collude with it, through our own apathy." Wow, I think that perfectly emobodies what I feel about speaking up, caring, being involved in life. Thanks again,

DB in NJ
I am brand new to Rowling and the world of Harry Potter. For years, I ignored the clamor over her brilliance. What a shame. She's brilliant. Thanks for sharing the link. It was an inspiring speech.
SheWhoWaits
Thanks so much for this, I really enjoyed it. I did not realize that she studied the classics. I, a fellow classics major, could tell from her writing that she had.
Kareni
I also had not realized prior to reading this speech that J.K. Rowling had majored in the Classics. Since that is my daughter's current plan for her own studies, she was very interested to learn the fact. Regards, Kareni
