mamapjama Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 My kids have been playing non stop in the snow. Unfortunately the insides of their winter boots are soaked. I have had them sitting in front of the wood stove for 1 1/2 days but the bottoms are still wet. We have a 4H thing tomorrow out in the woods and they'll need their boots. I'm guessing putting the boots in the dryer isn't a good idea. If worse comes to worse I'll have to do the plastic bag in the boots trick, but I really want to get them dry. Any ideas? She stuck them in the microwave. ;) Roflol... They burst into flames. ;) Poor Mom. But before I made that rule, I would stuff wadded up newspaper inside the boots....it soaks up lots of water...just be sure to change it when the paper gets damp....and you would be surprised how much water gets soaked up. I always find the removable liners so hard for the kids to get their feet into, but you are right, it would help alleviate the present problem! laundrycrisis Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 You can put hot dry hand towels or washcloths in to soak up and drive off as much moisture as possible. Heat them up in the dryer first. The most absorbent rags I own are birdseye flat diapers. When I need to soak up a lot of moisture, that is what I use. The newspaper will soak up all the moisture. you may have to repeat with fresh dry newspaper after an hour, depending on how wet the first ones get.
