Lisa at Home
I kept pausing a while ago while sitting at the computer because I kept thinking I heard someone talking. Dd, sitting close by, thought I was nuts, she didn't hear anything. I turned the speakers down as low as they could go, and we both sat absolutley still. Yep. Asian people talking. And it was completely unrelated to speaker volume. What in the world??? ~Lisa
OhM
Our computer would spontaneously play audio when it was infected with a virus. Some would open with ads, others would just play in the background - couldn't close using task manager. (Have you tried looking at task manager when it's playing? Can you identify a program running with it?) I couldn't resolve it myself - luckily have a friend who does this sort of thing - he diagnosed & cleaned it. Good luck! Doran
I kept pausing a while ago while sitting at the computer because I kept thinking I heard someone talking. ~Lisa Well, hear people talking all the time, but they're in my head! :D Gad, Lisa! I'm sorry. I have no advice, but I wanted to let you know that I really don't think you're crazy (hee), and I hope you find some resolution soon. Know any good computer geeks? I'd be on the horn in a blue streak. Doran
Heather in the Kootenays
I'd sometimes get voices from their PA system over my stereo speakers. It was a bit disconcerting until I figured it out.
shell in SC
He says that it's possible to get interference from other electronic devices that are using the same frequency if they are close enough. My speakers at work sometimes pick up the truckers radio conversations. I don't think there is much you can do about it other than try to figure out the frequency of your speakers and find some using a different one (assuming that their external speakers of course.) HTH! Lisa at Home
It was only for a few minutes this morning, and it hasn't happened anymore. I thought I was nuts for just a minute, though!:D ~Lisa

NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
on her laptop. She started to have problems with her programs running slow. Well, she had a trojan virus called Virtumonde. http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13331 It was a real pain to clean off. It doesn't show up on your task bar and it clones itself all over your computer. Hand to run a program called VindoFix and then run another... It took hours to get it off and when we were finally able to get it off, we installed AVG's free line of products. Wished we had done it sooner.
Kathy in MD
A radio station upped their broadcast wattage. Unfortunately the towers were located near us and the new power interferred with everything - baby monitors, home security systems, cell phones, computers and even land line telephones. There's nothing like picking up your telephone and hearing a radio broadcast :D The phone company installed filters for the land lines and a new cell tower for the cell phones. Unfortunately the filters weren't good enough for the computer and we had to go with cable for that (the phone company's alternative weren't available). I don't know what people did for the security systems and the baby monitors. The radio station just brushed all the complaints off because they weren't legally responsible for the damage they did.

Those old fashioned baby monitors used to pick up phone conversations all the time. I'd listen to Nicksmama... chances are, it is a virus.
