Dmmetler
Now, DD has, in the past, fought me on things like practicing and memorizing math facts, and to claim that she CAN'T possibly learn memory verses (although if you start one, she'll finish it or correct you). So, I bought the VP cards this year mostly because I couldn't resist them, and I liked the idea of having this nice, visual timeline, and I got the VP Cd to go with them. We've been going through them for 2 weeks now, just flipping through them with the CD, and I've seen DD flipping through and reading them...but didn't think anything of it. Until today, when she went through the entire deck, in order, explaining what each card was, in FAR more detail than the song-and asked when we were going to go beyond 1850. So she's basically memorized the entire deck, in less than 3 weeks???!!!??? When she says she "Can't" memorize and "hates" memory work??? So....how do I capitalize on this (besides pulling out the next deck of VP cards, which I bought over the summer since I wasn't sure how far we'd get into US history this year)? 3peasinapod
What does she like about them? The way they're set up or colors or pictures, etc. Maybe take some memory work and try to make it into what she likes from the cards? Is it because they make a lot of sense to her vocabulary wise or visually appealing? :001_smile:
Dmmetler
I don't know-I know I was drawn to them by the pictures, and I thought they might appeal to her that way, especially since Landmark (and really, most of the Sonlight Core 3 books) aren't terribly long on pictures, especially nice, colorful ones.
