Joyfullyblessed
Hello, I was just wondering if anyone uses this and if so, what are the thoughts on the site? I am curious if it is truly a safe way to budget your money. I am also interested in Mvelopes and possibly YNAB (you need a budget). Hmmm... any advice or suggestions are welcome. :)
kim.4dogs
I haven't started using mint.com yet, but I have two IRL friends who are using it. It's working well for them. I wondered about the safety/security of using it, but my friend's husband is a computer guy and so I figure if he's using it it must be pretty safe. I just haven't gotten around to setting it up yet. It seems like an easy way to manage your money.
Mynyel
I tried using Mint for budgeting. I hated it. I couldn't ever figure out how to get it to work right. I use my Amazon card for everything I can in order to get the points. I also pay it off every month. Well it would count my purchases and count my payment to my CC. Mint also automatically categorize things and sometimes they don't fit and I hated having to go change them. I don't micro-categorize things. I have a just a few different categories. It just didn't work for my needs. I tried it. I still use it to look at my accounts, since it keeps my bank info and CC info all in one spot but I don't use the budget anymore. Oh that and I had to set up the budget every month. I have different amounts for different things every month and I was tired of that too. ETA - I also needed a budget system that would go off the date I did the transaction and not the day it clears. In mint you can change the date but again, it was a pita trying to figure it out. I will say my BIL uses it and he likes it.
