Bang!Zoom!
I'm about to go bookmark happy on scholarships for kids from K-12 age. Is there any interest in looking at these? I'd be glad to post on a running thread if there is. Just askin'. August is generally open season on this stuff.

Bang!Zoom!
Okay, here's a start...there is a ton of under 13 of age scholarships here. It is difficult "sort of" because it looks to be printed in 2011/past app. language...normally, scholarship/gift offerings are annual, you need to just visit individual websites to see if it's re-occurring. http://www.finaid.org/scholarships/age13.phtml This article also explains why they are so hard to find online. Next up..Space Camp. How cool would that be? http://bit.ly/qsOkq1 They are opening new applications for 2012 in September. Many categories of gifts...special needs/low income, just a ton. http://www.collegescholarships.org/scholarships/k-12.htm <--Interesting! for 8th - 12 http://www.collegescholarships.org/scholarships/8-12.htm Edited July 25, 2011 by one*mom
Bang!Zoom!
I just realized this is going to be slightly biased on my postings...because I'm search on grants/scholarship/gifts available for kids age 8-10..even though other ages are going to show up...I just thought I should mention that. But we'll see, maybe one of you out there will get the bug too. This one is not exactly a gift/scholarship, but very nice prizes. http://www.thebettyaward.com/ ages 8-12 (entry fee @ $15.00) meh.. cash prizes 1st place, 300 dollars 2nd place, 200 dollars 3rd place, 100 dollars http://foundationcenter.org/yip/youth_scholarships.html Pretty big site, something for everyone. This is an example site from the list above. Impressive. http://www.artandwriting.org/ State of Indiana (only) folks take a peek over at the Lily Endowment page. http://www.lillyendowment.org/education.html Michigan & Great Lakes borders only folks, take a look around at the Joyce Foundation. http://www.joycefdn.org/ Edited July 25, 2011 by one*mom

Bang!Zoom!
NEA has a zillion grants (National Education Association) Folks who are homeschool may want to sift through, but the majority of them are aimed at PS, some are open to private. This one I got today was interesting, it's for children with asthma. A short clip: Parents or guardians of children with asthma are invited to nominate their child and child’s school for the Everyone Breathe Asthma Education savings bond and grant. Ten winning applications will be selected: nominated students in the winning application will receive a $2,500 savings bond for their continued education and the schools nominated in the winning application will receive a $5,000 grant to implement the proposal outlined in the application to help improve asthma care and education at the school. Fifty additional applications will be selected as second-place winners and those nominated schools will receive asthma nebulizer kits. The deadline is drawing near on this one, but it may be annual. If you know of someone that could qualify, let them know. The page is here for asthma grants: http://www.everyonebreathe.com/asthmaGrants/grants-faqs.html The grants & awards for NEA are here: http://www.nea.org/grants/grantsawardsandmore.html The browsing page is nicely organized and can be found here: http://www.nea.org/grants/1649.htm Man there is a lot there...have fun!
