Pensguys
Our OT will be starting to use this with my ds next week. What can I expect to see from him as far as improvements in his every day life? She showed me today how it works and what he'll hear and how she will use it with him. Thanks, P
frogpond1
What kind of issues are you using this for?
Pensguys
DS has dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADD. We're doing OT for poor motor planning, dysgraphia and low muscle tone in his trunk.
mom2g2b
My son did IM when we used to live in the Winston area. It seems like he went 3 to 4 days a week for 2 to 3 weeks. He was doing it for fine and gross motor skills. To be honest I'm not sure it really helped him. I hoped it would. He did improve his "right on" with the computer. This was a different child than the one with dyslexia and SPD. DS 10 has Developmental Coordination Disorder. He is very bright but struggles with gross and fine motor skills. Writing is very difficult for him. We are trying Dragon Speak but it doesn't seem to work well with his voice. Vickie
kiki
We are looking at using IM with my son. He was tested the other day and has significant timeing issues. I was just wondering if you have seen improvement and how IM is going in general? Thanks, Kirstin
Pensguys
We had our 2nd session of IM yesterday. The first day was setting baselines. We will only do it once/week but every week (skipping next week).
didasko
Hi Pensguys, I saw your post back in January regarding interactive metranome. I'm considering this as well with my son (ADHD combined). Has it been fruitful for you? Denise
Pensguys
We've only had 3 or 4 sessions with the IM so far. I've not noticed too much yet, other than his scores with the IM have GREATLY improved with just these sessions. One thing I did notice the other day (we aren't doing regular school work this summer but bits and pieces now and then...mostly just reading) was that ds wrote a couple of words down on a piece of paper with no lines. I thought my older ds had written it! The letters were all the same size and in a straight line as if I had written it.
didasko
Thank you for your progress report :) We are considering it for the inattentive part of my sons ADHD. I don't know much about it and am still trying to learn more. There is a Developmental Optometrist who has an office down the street from us. She has been using the IM for over a decade now. She thinks it could help my son (she also tested him for visual issues and he passed with flying colors). She screened him on the IM and he came in on the lowest score, "Severe" (whatever that means :) It's so hard, all these different therapies and which route to go. It's always useful to acually talk to someone who has dne it or is in process. Warm Regards, Denise
