1bassoon
Any ideas? I've got a gig tomorrow night, playing an opera (see avatar). I've had a minor cold all week, thought I was fine, went to practice tonight, and just. keep. coughing. It's not deep and chesty, just irritated, kwim? I Can. Not. Cough while I'm playing tomorrow night!!!!! And I can't be all loopy and drugged up, or else I'll break into strange bassoon music in the middle of the opera. Who's got a no-fail remedy? serene
Delsym is long lasting & doesn't usually make you sleepy. It's worked for kids & adults in our family. Good luck! :)
herbalgirl
If you google honey and cinnamon cough and cold, it will show you a mixture you can use to try to stop coughing. Here is one link for you: http://www.naturalhealthcure.org/diseases-and-treatments/cinnamon-and-honey-health-benefits.html Other than that, can you suck on some Ricola cough drops? Hmm. Maybe that'd be too distracting?

Denise in IN
I really like Halls Honey-Lemon cough drops for an irritating cough. They work pretty well and last a long time (unless you chew them :D). Hope you have a great performance!
1bassoon
Great ideas. I wish I could suck on a Ricola - they usually do the trick, but they'll kill the wood in my reed :( Delsym and water it is, and I'm going to save the honey trick in my "file" - I'm not sure it will work fast enough for tomorrow night's performance. Oops...forgot about the reed! Well, nice thought anyway. They work great for me when I'm singing (no reed involved)!
Cedarmom
I get a tea call Throat Coat (slippery elm and licorice) Drink it before your performance. It gets rid of the scratchies. If you can't find it licorice tea works well too.
