Kirsten in MO
Has anyone used the Home2teach online writing classes? Just trying to research online writing classes and was wondering about these. If you have used something else you liked, I would love to hear! I am looking for something to help my reluctant, struggling 8th grader writer (soon to be reluctant, struggling 9th grade writer) :001_smile: Thanks! MommyThrice
I'm using Write at Home right now, it hasn't been much help. But we did spend a few months with WriteGuide.com and it was very helpful. We will do that again next year. We received daily, very detailed, feedback. The one thing to watch out for is that the tutors want to spend f-o-r-e-v-e-r on each writing assignment. I had to tell them when I thought it was "good enough" and we were ready to move on.
Gwen in VA
We have used home2teach for several years with several kids. I like the lower-level writing classes. They are easy, but they get the kids writing and the feedback is upbeat and somewhat helpful. Could I do something similar with my kids -- yes, but I think the assignments coming from "outside" have been helpful. The classes aren't "great" but they have helped my kids become more comfortable writers. The paragraph class has now reduced two of my kids to tears. One did finish the class with many groans; one didn't. The paragraphs are supposed to be written according to a rigid formula, and there is zero tolerance for the slightest variation.
