Apologia Science/math pre-requisites question

Recommended Posts

Ok, so according to this link- it says when a child is in Algebra 1 they should begin Biology, well dd will be doing biology and chemistry in 9th, she starts Algebra 1 next year in 8th a grade and will be doing Physical Science. Are those just minimum math standards for the science courses or is there a reason she should do biology the same year she is doing Algebra 1?

There is no reason to take biology concurrently with algebra 1.

I assume the recommendation stems from the fact that algebra 1 needs to be taken before chemistry or physics. So, for many students that would mean studying bio and alg1 in the same year, and then moving on to the other sciences.

There is no need for biology in algebra, so just go ahead and have her do the algebra, and do bio a year later.
