KAR120C
(And whether 10th grade is or is not the right designation for next year is a complicated question... but it's a reasonable fit for this purpose! LOL) Science: Electronics (and the related parts of Physics) Math: Art of Problem Solving - the problem solving books History and Lit/Comp: US and Canadian history and literature, plus an extra bit of reading on immigration literature and issues of identity (maybe an extra half-credit?) Microeconomics Spanish 4 (Oklahoma State) - might be finishing up Spanish 3 at the beginning of the year, too. Latin 2 (Lone Pine Classical) The History and Lit/Comp curriculum is one I'm putting together myself from parts. We have the History of US DVDs and the CBC Canada: A People's History documentaries. We also have several US history books and one current History of Canada text, as well as several older resources on my Kindle. I'm assembling a list of literature... that's not done yet, but my thought is that I'll make the list and let DS choose which to read when as long as he's getting to all the topics I want to cover. I'd like some of his writing to compare the different perspectives on historical events that included both countries, and how each country was shaped by its different experiences. For the focus on identity and immigration he'll have some kind of major assignment (although the details are something we'll work out together when he has done more reading)... something about the variety of immigrant experiences, diasporas, national identity.... we'll see where it goes. HollyDay
I have not gotten logic figured out yet. We did Thinking Toolbox and Fallacy Detective in 7th and 8th. What would be a good direction to go now? I forgot to add music. Dd studies piano so that will count for a music elective. She is doing a study of the Psalms for Bible. I'm not sure if she will do a study of the minor prophets or the writings of Paul next year. Foreign language will be a continuation of Spanish. Bee
Math- I think maybe a basic math course from CLE and working through the Key to Geometry books. LA- Lightning Lit, Wordly Wise(both, dd's choices), thinking maybe the Stewart english program suggested in TWTM. Science- biology. I have a basic text, a biology coloring book, and I'm hoping to use one of the Labpaqs. History- really undecided! Today I'm thinking about maybe using a Teaching Company lecture series for a little US history. DD would like to do a course on political philosophy but I can't find good introductory materials. We may do philosophy instead. And dd would like to do a course on food and culture and I have a list possible books for that (thanks to whoever suggested that here!). We will also add in some Great Books study but won't stick to a strict chronological schedule. I'll try to vary the books and tie them in where I can with other subjects. And start practicing for the SAT/ACT exams.

In the bottom right corner of your post, there is an "Edit" button (just to the left of the "Quote" button that you see on every post.) Use that, and then it will give you a chance to edit your post in a box similar to the one in which you typed it. When you are done making changes, click the "Save" button in the lower right corner. :001_smile:
