Jamee
I ordered the Mental Math DVD on a whim thanks to those dang advertisements the company is always sending out. Just want to give a thumb's up to it! DS watched the first lecture yesterday, reluctantly, and is now continuing the series entirely on his own--not sure whether to stop him or not since he should be doing his work.:tongue_smilie: But he has learned some amazing tricks and was almost able to do some multiplication problems faster than DH yesterday, who is a math teacher but wasn't aware of some of these "secrets." Satori
Sounds great! What's the age range for this, and do you have a URL?
Jamee
Here you go! Secrets of Mental Math. (I got it on sale.) I would say it's suitable for anyone who is comfortable with their multiplication table. DS is 11 and is realizing just why knowing his multiplication tables is so important.:D
DarlaS
Oh! That's the same professor who does the Joy of Mathematics series. He's a great and enthusiastic speaker.
Jamee
YEs, very energetic. THe Joy of Math is next on my list--when it's on sale again.
Josie
Wow, this looks great. I hope it has the same effect on my clan. I will jump up and down if it causes my clan to watch it without mandates.

I really, really want this!!! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to show that it is still on sale. Did you buy it recently?
Jamee
Yes, I think the sale ended on the 3rd or so. When I first heard about the company I couldn't beleive everyone was forking over so much money, but then I saw the sales. WOW! Sign up for their mailing list. I get notices about once a week, unfortunately their sales are very short, I think the last one was a 24 hour offer. I think I may need to put aside a "lecture fund." HollyBee
Bumping this, b/c it's on sale again through March 27: http://www.teach12.com/tgc/courses/course_detail.aspx?cid=1406 I'm getting ready to order it!
Debbie in OR
I'm not seeing that it's on sale...am I missing something?
HollyBee
Hmmm. I got it through an email they sent me. But you're right, when you click through the link, it doesn't show that it's on sale. I wonder if you sign up for email notices if you'd get this latest one (it just came today).
HollyBee
Or, duh (on my part), you could PM me your email addy and I'll forward it to you.
shanvan
Or, duh (on my part), you could PM me your email addy and I'll forward it to you. I sent you a PM about the offer. It sounds great. Shannon
milovany
I also ordered Mental Math on the same sale and "whim" as the OP! (I found a coupon code for $10 off any order, too, so it was like getting free shipping. Google "Teaching company coupon code".) I look forward to getting it. We have Joy of Mathematics, and love the professor's enthusiasm, although some of my kids aren't ready for that series. I'm going to have all who are 10 and above watch Mental Math with me. milovany
Try this link. I just got an e-mail today that today is the last day for this particular sales event. Also, try coupon code RNYR for $10 off your order. With this code, I got MM shipped for $39.95. ETA -- I corrected the coupon code. The above code is correct. mom2bee
If you can't afford this video series, the book Secrets of Mathemagicians (by the same professor) is a great place to start for around 12 USD from Amazon. The TOC isn't too radically different, using the info boxes on the Mental Math page to guage the content...
shanvan
Try this link. I just got an e-mail today that today is the last day for this particular sales event. Also, try coupon code RYNR for $10 off your order. With this code, I got MM shipped for $39.95. This link works! Thank you so much!:grouphug:
elegantlion
I couldn't get the RYNR code to work, but I got MRAF to work, .99 shipping! Whoo hooo! Ordered my first TC DVDs!!! Thanks for the heads up on the sale. Edited March 26, 2011 by elegantlion
milovany
I couldn't get the RYNR code to work, but I got MRAF to work, .99 shipping! I typed it wrong, sorry! Should be: RNYR. I owe you .99! :tongue_smilie: Edited March 26, 2011 by milovaný
shanvan
I couldn't get the RYNR code to work, but I got MRAF to work, .99 shipping! Exactly what I did. I tried several other codes and they all made the price go back to original instead of sale price! Yikes! I was almost afraid to try another code, but RYNR worked. Whew! Jyniffrec
Yes, thank you! I just bought the Mental Math video. I have never ordered from them before and am quite curious to see what everyone (including my FIL, who orders from them frequently) is excited about! HappyCamper
The Mental Math DVD is on sale again for $39.99. :001_smile: Does anyone have a Teaching Company code for free shipping???
elegantlion
No code, but we've watched 2 of the lectures so far. I've learned a few new skills. We're set to watch the rest over the next week.
HappyCamper
Thanks Elegant Lion! I think I will take the plunge at $39.99 plus $10 shipping. Hate to pay for the shipping - but truly want the DVD.
