Anyone do Pennsylvania Public Cyber Schools?

Recommended Posts

Anyone do PA's public cyber school for their high schoolers?

We are moving to PA from IL soon (2-4 months) and I am seriously considering enrolling our twins in one of the PA public cyber schools for their 11th and 12th grades.

So anyone with experience in PA cyber schools... please tell me about them.

Did you transfer into them from homeschooling and if so, how did it go with getting transfer credit for your high schoolers?

We plan to move to Lackawanna or Monroe counties (Scranton, Moscow, or Tobyhanna areas). If you are familiar with these areas, I would appreciate any information you can give me (especially what areas to stay away from).

We need to find cubscout/boyscout troop, music teacher (guitar, drums, piano), Kung Fu school, pediatrician/family doctor, etc.

If you are familiar with the elementary/middle schools I would like to hear about them too. Youngest Ds will be in 5th grade next year (he is on autism spectrum). Middle Ds will be in 7th grade and at this time we aren't sure if we will do cyber school with him or send him to middle school still.

Thank you.

No way, Anita!!!

I can't really comment on cybers for HS, but I might be able to help with a few questions about the Monroe County area. For instance, I can PM you with the name of the school district that completely blew my aspie off. :tongue_smilie:

LOL, yes way... Dh plans to go rental house hunting in a few weeks.

Please let me know your experiences. It will give us a heads up.

The first step for us is finding a home. We need to rent a 4 bedroom that will allow a large dog (115 lb Akita who 9yrs old, he is very well behaved) and a cat (who is indoor/outdoor cat).

I am originally from that area but I left about fifteen years ago so I doubt if I am current on the areas to avoid. I have also used two of the PA cyber charters, Agora and Pa Cyber. Agora uses K12 and Pa Cyber uses Little Lincoln and Lincoln Interactive. Some people get annoyed with the reporting requirements in both of those schools, but really it isn't the cyber charter's idea, it comes from the state regs. I found the teachers and folks at both cyber charters to be friendly and helpful and willing to work with families. I prefer the K12 curriculum to the Lincoln Interactive. The Lincoln curriculum, especially Little Lincoln, felt more like fluff and flash to me, no real solid academics there. Pa Cyber did offer Calvert but only for certain early grades, as I recall, but you could check that out. You can PM me if you want, and I'll try to remember anything else that might help you with the area.
