Josie
Please tell me what you think of Vision forum's The Complete Entrepreneurial Bootcamp Collection (10 DVDs and 20 CDs). If you have used or seen it I would appreciate a review. Would it be appropriate for girls?
Holly IN
To answer your question about girls... First of all I have to say I never seen or heard this series. I know about it but never watched or listen to them. I imagine girls would benefit a lot from it from a business standppoint but Vision Forum tend to lean more of the area where girls/women are to stay home or not partake business venture. Just the gist I get from reading some of the books they promote. Hubby do not agree with their views on women so told me not to read their books on women or family. I said all that to say that they may say something about girls/women in the videos. Something that might discourage your daughter. Hopefully others will chime in and let us know if that is the case or not. Holly
Rebecca VA
From what I know of VF (though I haven't listened to the Entrepreneurial Workshop), girls and women would work within a family context. Actually boys and men would work within a family context as well. So you would have "Smith Family Plumbing" rather than "Susie Smith Plumbing." Also, boys and men would be the "point people" in the enterprise; girls and women would work more behind the scenes. Not hidden away really, but it would be the guys who would really be out there hustling.
Holly IN
Rebecca confirmed it for me. I was hoping to be wrong. :D hhhmmm that would be a problem for me. :D Not all girls will be married....kwim? Are there any resources out there for girls? Holly ps sorry for hijacking.... Laurie4b
I think the first thing you have to decide is whether you agree with the overall values and philosophy. I agree with Rebecca that the general philosophy in VF is that families should have their own businesses and girls are definitely aiming at being both mothers and women who can help their husbands with the family business. Additionally, there is de-emphasis on college because it's thought to be worldly and not to make economic sense if you can start your own business anyway. (Have not heard the CD's, just basing this on general knowledge of VF's philosophy.)
1bassoon
Holly - Prof. Michael Licata has not only an Accounting course, but an Entrepreneurship course as well - both are high school credit-worthy. (Says the mom whose daughter is a big-time entrepreneur!)

The girls who don't get married work in their father's family business. I guess when he dies, someone else within the community takes them in? Or maybe they then run it themselves? (Not sure this philosophy has run enough years to run into that scenario too often.)
FaithManor
I have a real problem with a lot of the viewpoints from Vision Forum so we refuse to use any of their products. The founding family has been involved in some very controversial, rather sickening church practices such as shunning. I find their views to be actually anti-Biblical and oppressive. So, I'd have to be suspect about the subtle messages in an educational product from that company. Hopefully, someone here has actually perused the product and will have an actual review.
