MamaAkins
We will be taking a year off from our history rotation to focus on cultural and physical geography (possibly using BJU Cultural Geography, Runkle's Geography (which focuses on physical geography) and Mapping The World By Heart. First of all, how would you award credit for those? Would you count the cultural geography as a history/social studies credit and the physical geography & mapping program together as one "science" credit or as an elective? My daughter is not too "science-minded" and is not planning on a career in a science field. IF the physical geography ends up being an elective, then we'll probably do an Earth Science course for 9th grade. We will be doing Biology in 10th grade, Chemistry in 11th and another science in 12th (probably a Physics or Environmental Science).
Chris in VA
Not much help, here, but I'll tell you I gave .5 credit for Runkles in (I think) 11th grade, and combined it with .5 credit that year of astronomy (used Astronomy Today). Given your situation, I'd probably give .5 credit of science ("Physical Geography") for Runkles, and .5 for your combo of MWBH and BJU, as a social studies credit. We used the Covenant College Transcript, and I don't recall if they separate out history or not, but you could either list it separately or not (just as Geog). It really doesn't matter what you call it. The college will put it wherever they want.

Given the BJU Cultural Geography is a 660 page book that we would plan to cover in-depth over the entire year, I was definitely leaning toward giving a full-credit for those two together. Hmm, maybe I'll call BJU and see what they suggest as a credit for the Cultural Geography program. Thanks for your suggestion! I definitely like the idea of doing a .5 credit of science for Runkles and combining it with another science such as Astronomy.

I had planned on using Bob Jones Cultural Geography for 1 credit without the added mapping program. I will watch this thread to see what others think.
