T Baer
DS and I will be in Indy and while I grew up there I wanted some other ideas besides the Children's Museum (which is great) and Conner's Prairie. I can't be gone for 2 long as our trip is to help my sister recuperate, but DS and I will need a nice break. I have to say despite her surgery, she can see the value and freedom of homeschooling as we can take it on the road. She's a PS teacher and has made some comments and suggestions. She's lessen them over the years as she gets to know DS, who is a loving, respectful and helpful child which she doesn't see that much in her students. Sandy in Indy
The Indiana State Museum is downtown and very interesting. (very hsing friendly, too) The Morris-Butler House is a great tour of a Victorian home. (very close to downtown) The Indpls Museum of Art was recently renovated (and is free). James Whitcomb Riley home is also near downtown. The Eitlejorg Museum is an interesting study of Native American culture and art..but they weren't terribly kid-friendly when our group was there. I can easily spend a couple hours in one of these. They also give teacher discounts for homeschoolers. We also enjoyed the Indy 500 racetrack and museum more than I thought we would. If you go, the bus ride around the track is pretty cool. (Even for me, a non-race fan)
