Melinda S in TX
You will love it. If you don't like drawing, the storyline is still great for games. Blessings, Melinda
blakereese
You will love it. Promise. ;) Just got ours a couple of weeks ago, and it is a hit. I'm glad I gave it a chance.
birchbark
You will love it. And so will your DC. My son occasionally asks if we can do it again, and we've been through it twice!
walkermamaof4
You will love it. My children begged to do it again after we finished. But I had bought MCT by then and wanted to move on. I think I'll let them do it again this summer. It's fun! You could easily do 1 sentence a day finding the character (part of speech or sentence type) for the sentence that you just learned about. I wish we had done this!!!
thowell
My girls love this! After we do a lesson the girls use what they have learned to construct original sentences with their spelling words from SWR it is working great and they are finally getting the 4 sentences and 8 parts of speech! Have fun with it!
MerryAtHope
I'm almost jealous! I only read about it earlier this year & it looks like a great idea. Wish I had known about it when my kids were younger. Hope you love it! Merry :-)
imhim
Is this what you are talking about? Title: The Sentence Family: Introducing Grammar Through Art and Story Author: Fr. Dn. TracyP
The Sentence Family is here. This site says it was intended for 4th graders. I have seen it recommended for 2nd and up. So glad to see the love! I plan on buying this in Jan to use before I start MCT next fall. I'm so excited!
Moniksca
I just saw that it is available as a PDF from currclick, just wanted to pass it on. I'm in Canada and so shipping is always a factor. I've been wanting to purchase this for awhile now.

texasmama
I saw the Currclick one, as well, which is less expensive than the paper copy and no shipping for those who like online options. We like to touch all of our curriculum.:tongue_smilie: Glad to hear so many positive endorsements! We will be using it as a supplement to our grammar program for my 2nd and 4th graders. I saw the ages listed as 8 - 10 years on one site.
MelissaMom
This looks so neat! My kids love to draw. I was SO trying not to spend money on anything...let alone more curriculum:tongue_smilie: Lets see what I can sell:001_smile:
MelissaMom
I just had to come back and update. I decided to splurge and got THe Sentence Family for $12 on CurrClick. First thank you for talking about The Sentence Family. I had never heard of it before reading about it here. We started it last week and my kids (7, 9 and 11) LOVE it! And I don't have kids who love everything we do;) They love to draw and the hear the clever stories that go with each character. Today my kindergartner sat in with us and picked it up right away and thought it was such fun. I'm not drawing them as we read the story, but I hang up the picture and after we read about the new character, they draw it. I'm planning to have theirs laminated with some sample sentences they write out on the back. Or possibly just a blank sheet of lined paper on the back that gets laminated to practice writing with dry erase marker what sentences go with which character. I also purchased Grammar Ace (which uses the Schoolhouse Rock videos) to use along side this, although we haven't started it yet. I'm excited to have a painless way to learn some grammar for my very right brained children:D Edited January 12, 2011 by MelissaMom clarification

Hi, Did you print out the book in colour or are you reading it off the computer screen. I am weighing the costs of buying from Currclick and printing it or buying the printed book and having it shipped over. Thanks in advance! texasmama
Glad to hear the good update, Melissa!:001_smile: We look forward to doing this program in the summer. I think that all three of my hs'ed kids will love it.
Hunter
Is there anything special about the sentence diagramming? How much of what is learned is applicable to lessons in other curricula, later on? It looks like it teaches color coding of the parts of speech? That could be used to mark copied sentences from a novel as review, or to understand a complex sentence in the Bible or a Great Book? The Currclick price is acceptable, but colored ink is expensive :-(
mom@shiloh
Oh, I want this!! Now, to decide between hard copy and pdf....
Hunter
I have definately decided on the pdf. I have already printed out Cozy Grammar and I will combine these 2 curricula into a frankentextbook.
MelissaMom
I love the PDF, and you can always print the 'text' pages in draft mode. I have put the character drawings in sheet protectors (soon to laminate) and hung on the wall as we learned each new one. As the kids have drawn theirs, we stick a blank sheet of handwriting paper on the back and then laminate. They are all hole-punched in the corner with a ring and then they can work on writing sentences with each part of speech with a dry erase marker on the back. I've been meaning to blog about this, as its' been one of my faves this year. I'll come back here and link up when I do ;)
