TracyR
Unfortunatley I'm not homeschooling this year but I still do things with my children at home to supplement when need be. My 12(almost 13yr old) loves art and loves to draw. The school they are in doesn't have much of an art program ( its a tiny Catholic school of 70 kids and 6 teachers). Anyways I want to develop that. She has quite a gift in drawing and she really needs more instruction on the how to's. Would anyone have any suggestions of what we can use so she continues to enjoy art? She can also get into a good Catholic High school on scholarship if she can draw. She has a few more years to go but I want to help her get a good start now. LisaKinVA
I like the "How Great thou Art" books -- some have instructional DVDs. Artelier (sp?) I think may also be a good one.
Hunter
Mark kistler stuff is good. I recently bought an online subscription. I think confidence and personal voice go much further than technique...so I read a lot of books that don't specifically teach drawing, that in some vague way affect how I draw. I find that looking at children's picture books is an awesome resource to be able to see a SERIES of work by the same artist. I am inspired by these books, even if what I gain from them is unrecognizable as coming from that source. I highly recommend Sachiko Umotos books for a 12 year old. I sure do wish I could time warp back a set to my 12 year old self! And google "zentangles" :-)
plain jane
The Phonics of Drawing is a really well done program. You can also buy it at RR.

It is independent, too, so that keeps the pressure off of me. :)
