melmichigan
Can anyone compare the coverage and content of these two video series? I don't expect problems with Algebra I myself but my DD and I both have very strong personalities and CD Prealgebra DVD's have helped ease the tension this year. I step in when there is confusion or further explaining needed. :) I am a little concerned with all the negative responses for CD Algebra I mentioned lately, especially with my DD being younger. Julie in MN
I haven't used Jacobs' Algebra, but we're using Jacobs' Geometry. Callahan videos are not like CD videos. CD provides teaching videos. Callahan is sort of a "helpful hints" sort of video. It's not high-end, it's not so easy to navigate (easier on the computer), and it's not very long. Also, CD and Callahan use very different textbooks (although CD says it can adapt to other textbooks?). The Jacobs textbook (at least his geometry one) is a bit unusual, to me, in that it presents a few real-life situations and a few factoids, and then continues a lot of the teaching within the exercise problems, themselves. I haven't seen the CD textbook, but most textbooks teach the lesson thoroughly, including several example problems, before the student even begins the exercises.
