DesertDweller
We are thinking about moving to the country, actually desert here. We just found out that the area we're looking at has limited internet service. No broadband; only the very slowest DSL. Is there anything else available? I looked at Hughes Net, but their internet speeds didn't seem very fast and they were rather pricey. What do you all do that live in an outlying area with no service? We need ours for our business. If we can't find something, we will have to stay in town where we can continue to have broadband. I'm hoping there's a solution.
Mama Geek
If you have a cell phone and it is a place that you can get cell reception you can get a data plan added to your service and your phone acts like a modem. It isn't cheap, but Verizon and AT&T should both be able to tell you more.
goldberry
Our neighborhood doesn't have many options, but our HOUSE has line of sight to a tower, and we have service that the company gave us a small dish to access. The dish looks similar to our DishNetwork dish for cable. I'm not sure what it would be called. Neighbors have Hughes and don't like it. My service is great, and I use it for business also. $44 per month.
