jeri
DD is quite bright and mathy. She has finished Algebra and is 1/2 way through Alg 2. We are going to start this high school course this fall. Can anyone give me *positive* encouragement??? I'm getting cold feet! Jeri
Teachin'Mine
Jeri I think that Apologia recommends that students have completed algebra 2 before beginning the chemistry course. Has she done their physical science text? It leads nicely into either physics or chemistry. :) On edit: I'm wrong. I just checked the Apologia site and here's what they say: How much algebra is needed for Chemistry? To be successful in chemistry, a student needs to be extremely proficient at rearranging algebraic equations to solve for an unknown variable. Typically, this proficiency is achieved by the time a student has completed one year of an algebra course. Pre-algebra does not qualify as fulfilling this prerequisite. So it sounds like she should be good to go! : ) Edited August 17, 2010 by Teachin'Mine

I meant to encourage you by the words that she should be fine to go. :)

Teachin'Mine
Jeri I'm sorry - I obviously misread your post. I really should not be allowed to read and post at 5 AM.
galtgrl
Well, we'll be doing it too, once we finish up our Biology :001_smile:. So at least you're not alone! I think it'll be fine.
