CLHCO
Can you suggest some fun things to do for a weekend during the winter months? I know all the basic summer fun but I'm a bit confused about what to do in a few weeks there over the weekend when it's cold. We are planning on Focus on the Family for some indoor play but what other activities are good with dc ages 2 to 13? Thanks!
WTMindy
I'd actually like suggestions for June also because we'll be there then.
Debra in CO
Cheryl, Well, there is the Museum of Mining and Industry. Or the Money Museum (free). The Pioneer Museum. Ummm, the pottery place in Old Colorado City - ummmm van Brueggel, or something like that. I'm tired - I'll see if I can't think of something else later :) Debra
CLHCO
Thanks. I think we have one day figured out. We just need another day and a good place or two for dinner. We'll be towards the north end.
Maxine in WA
Is Santa's Workshop open when you'll be in town? That's a fun place for younger kids. They used to have a fun place for snow tubing, but I don't remember the name. Going to visit the Broadmoor Hotel was fun, just to see the pictures of all the famous people who have stayed there over the years. They often have special events like concerts and other performances. Of course, even if it's chilly, visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is fun. Sorry I can't be of more help. I moved away from CO about 6 years ago and thing have probably changed a lot. Enjoy your stay!
RegularMom
I'm pretty sure Santa's Workshop is open year-round. I lived in Colorado Springs for 8 years. There's a place called Mr. Biggs in Colorado Springs which might be just what you're looking for. It's an enormous indoor play area for kids of all ages. For little ones, there's Mr. Biggs town which is this large indoor play TOWN. It's a whole town for kids. For play. It's got a farm, a pirate ship, a large climbing playroom, a giant sandbox, plus a play bakery, play jail, play firestation, etc.... For older kids, they've got indoor car racing on mini-tracks, plus mini-golf and various arcade games. You should be able to find them in the online Yellow Pages. It's on the pricier side of things, but sometimes you can find coupons or go on a family discount day. We used to go there when we got tired of Focus on the Family for playdates. HTH.
