Alphabetika
Check out Signs and Seasons from ClassicalAstronomy.com. We have not used it yet, but we have it and I'm looking forward to it. Maybe it will be a fit for you. HTH!
Grace is Sufficient
I can't yet recommend it, but my daughter will be taking an earth science type course at Florida Virtual school next year as a ninth grader. It looks interesting. Here's the url: http://www.flvs.net/students_parents/VSACourseDetail.php?CourseID=
Cinder
If you can't find a group situation (co-op, community college, debate club, etc) you might consider Toastmasters. It's been many years since I was involved in one (in college) but it's a good way to get experience speaking in front of a group. You start off easy with a speech introducing yourself--not at your first meeting, though. Other members will give you feedback on what you did well and how you can improve. People were very encouraging; it was a good experience. I learned a lot even though I'd had a year of speech in high school. Cinder
