Depends on who you are asking. ME? Nope. If I snack I'd open a bag of chips and eat the whole darn thing. I've chosen not to snack (well, except for the occasional carrot or celery stick). The kids? Yep.

We eat a huge breakfast of eggs, toast, biscuits, and oatmeal. As a snack, I'll offer yogurt and all fruit jelly or a piece of fruit. Lunch is usually leftovers. Then, I'll plan one snack in the afternoon - pb and j, or something like that. If the kids are hungry in between, they get fruit. Dinner is a normal dinner with lots of veggies. After dinner they can have fruit.

If my blood sugar level takes a dive, so do I. Not good. I aim for a steady-state, so meals always include high-quality protein and a whole grain. In the summer I frequently make a frozen banana-yogurt-milk-vanilla extract smoothie. In winter it varies as the wind. But I'll never go back to the days of artificially-set eating times that don't mesh with my body's rhythms.

I eat all the time. ALL. THE. TIME. Usually I have an open bag of baby carrots by my elbow, or a box of grape tomatoes, or a tangerine. Sometimes it's a tablespoon of peanut butter with wheat thins or a cup of cottage cheese. Then lunch is a gigantic salad that takes me an hour to eat.

It's when I *stop* eating like this that I gain weight.

Yes, we have very structured snacktime, 10am and 3 pm.. Sometimes I participate sometimes I just wait till the next meal. But our snacks are healthy - apples, smoothies, hummus, etc. This is one of the reasons I love homeschooling. If my kids were in school, they'd still snack but they wouldn't be nearly as healthy.
