5wolfcubs
I was planning on using Apologia Biology next year for both my dds. I just put what I thought I needed in my RR cart. We already have an excellent microscope. $40.00 Dissecting Lab Materials $80.00 Biology Lab Materials $59.95 Exploring Creation w/ Biology Set $3.95 Exploring Creation w/ Biology Tests Total: $183.90 I'm having sticker shock. I was thinking high school would cost about $100/course. Now I'd be having both girls use it, so I guess it is right there...but still! I'd need all of the above, right? Any less expensive options? I must go see what the WTM actually suggests!
johnandtinagilbert
Look for it used. It is an easy pick up that way and you'll save a fortune. I can't say if the prices are better, but Home School Science Tools had the kit rather inexpensively. If you email me I have taken the Donna Young schedule for this class and added movies, living books, etc. to the schedule. I've been sharing. :)
Chris in VA
Yes, go for used! We did spend a bit on it (can't remember exactly) but the resale was good, too.
Storm Bay
I bought the books from RR & the lab kit & slides from Home Science Tools. We already have a microscope. I thought of buying them used, but since I was going to have surgery & didn't know if I could get to any used curricula sales plus any I saw used online weren't that much cheaper with shipping, I bought them new. I do plan to sell them after my 3 use it.

I must go see what the WTM actually suggests! It's a big upfront cost, but only the dissection animals are consumable (you'll still have even the tool kit and rubber pad). So, your cost for the next four should only be for the dissection animals. Also, I've found Home Science Tools to have excellent prices on the microscope and dissection kits. You should be able to find the text/answer key used -- just make sure to get the 2nd edition. HTH, Lisa
5wolfcubs
Thanks everyone. I'll check HST! I did look at the WTM recommendation: Wiley's Self-Teaching Guide and original writings. I was intrigued but I think laid out & ready to go is what will get done.
happygrrl
I just saw this in the CBD catalog and I think it was less expensive. I put the catty in the recycling bin already so I can't say for sure.
