Any others going to college while they are hsing their kids?

Recommended Posts

I really need some support here. I finally finished my bachelor's degree in psyc in May. I did it all online through Liberty University. I started my master's in professional counseling in May. I am in my last week of my first class and my 2nd week of my 2nd class. I am so tired. I have a 10pg paper due in the first class, which should be turned in today but won't be.

I guess it's probably important to know that i also deal with a mental disorder on top of all of this. It's been kinda crazy lately. I am just wondering if there are any others out there crazy enough to do this?

I am happy to hear that you are in the same boat. Yes, I am close to having my bachelor's and my husband as well. We are homeschooling 4 all under 10 and sometimes I think I am going crazy.

Good for you! :001_smile: I know it is hard. I am glad to hear you made it through your bachelor's while homeschooling. Some days when I have a lot of work I just give the kids something fun and educational to do.

We are members at the YMCA (they do partial scholarships if you are in college or based on your income) and I utilize the facilities so the kids can be active while I sit in the lobby and study sometimes. The childcare will also keep them for 2 hours at a time (5 times a week) so that I can have some quiet time. I do not use child care often, but it is there if needed.

With my husband being in school as well it is hard for either of us to be able to give each other a break. We also live far from our families so we do not have grandma's close by to drop them off for a day or two. We sometimes struggle, but I try to keep my head up... It will be nice to sit back and say AHHHHHHHH.... we did it.

Good luck to you! :bigear:

Me! I'm taking 2 classes and expect to have 4 in the fall. It's not an online school though. I am not a good candidate for online learning. I need to be in a classroom! :) I'm majoring in Early Childhood Education and my classes require me to observe in classrooms outside of my own class time which means it eats more of my available time to be home.

I have 3 homeschoolers at home: high school senior, high school freshman, 7th grader. I thought they had the capability to be more independent but it's going to be a slow transition. Well, my 7th grader can do nearly all her work on her own. I have been pulling my senior through her classes because she just doesn't care too much anymore. It's on her shoulders though. And my freshman as Aspergers and still needs me to help with nearly all his schoolwork. On average, I spend 4 to 5 hours a day with them.

I take medication for bipolar, insomnia, and ADHD. Though I must admit that since I started school, I haven't needed my Ambien! I don't need help falling asleep anymore, but I still only sleep about 6 hrs. a night. My doctors want me sleeping 8 hrs. at least. But I'm okay.

Crazy? Yes. But doable, and I think it's healthy for me as well. :)

Though I should be doing homework right now and not perusing the boards!

Edited to add: I've been working on my bachelor's degree for 21 years now. Every time I leave school, they change the requirements when I get back. I have been a senior forever, and still have about 2 years before I get my degree. So yes, I'm definitely crazy.
