Sebastian (a lady)
I posted earlier on the general board, but I realized that maybe I'm looking for input from folks who are more into the high school years. We have potential to move to Maryland, where we would choose between having a public school rep assess our homeschooling via a portfolio and using an umbrella school. We've been homeschooling for almost eight years, but the most I've ever had to submit is test scores. Most years I haven't been required to submit anythings. So . . . Does anyone have experience with Maryland beyond the legal overview? We would likely be in Anne Arrundel, Montgomery or Prince Georges County. (Probably in that order.) How arduous would a portfolio review be? If you used an umbrella school, how did you pick the one that you used. Was there anything that you got from an umbrella that you found especially helpful? Or was there anything asked for by an umbrella that you found burdensome or invasive. What made you choose one option over the other? Invasive school? Price? Extra assistance? What am I not thinking of that I should be considering?
