langfam
Can anyone share with me their course schedule for Lial's Intermediate Algebra or have any suggestions for completing this course in one school year? TIA :)
Jann in TX
The first chapter is usually optional... Beginning with Chapter 2 I assign the ODD problems and I allow 2 days for completion. I also skip/omit and 'relating concept' and questions needing a 'written answer'. The lesson itself can be split into 2 days of teaching--assign half of the examples and then the corresponding 'odd' homework problems. I assign ALL of the chapter review problems up to the 'mixed review' section. I reserve the mixed review for 'emergency' practice before the test. I allow 2 days for the chapter review and one day for the chapter test. I may or may not assign the 'cumulative review' problems after the tests... varies from student to student. I remember making a formal schedule for Intermediate once upon a time--somewhere around 150-160 days to complete the course...

lil'red
You may want to also check half.com. I was able to get the Introductory Algebra student text, solutions manual, and DVT's for $22 and that included shipping.
mochick
And then what happens after this course? Does Trig come next, or Pre-Calc? And does Lial have books for those? Or is Trig supposed to be part of this same year, along with Algebra 2?
JoanHomeEd
Geometry is a good follow up before Precal. Lial does have Precal and it covers Trig as well. After Precal, one might want to pause and do SAT II for Math first before continuing with Calculus or AP Calculus. Joan
