Transcript questions

Recommended Posts

I put these questions on the college board but decided it should probably go here. (That board can be slow. :))

This summer we're applying for colleges for the school year starting fall 2011. So, ds has not yet begun his senior year. On his transcript, do I list courses he plans to take during his senior year or do I leave that part blank?

And could someone please remind me how many credits we're aiming for. I remember it being 24-28. Is that right?

I listed DS' senior year classes on his transcript and the appropriate credit for each one too. The classes were described in our course description document too. Mid-Year the colleges want an updated transcript with mid-year grades for these courses.

The colleges my DS applied to wanted to see that the senior was taking just as heavy a load as he took junior year --- or at least that's what they told us when we did our college campus visits Junior year. Listing his senior classes on his transcript demonstrated this.

If memory serves me the Common Application has a place where you list the courses the student will take fall semester and spring semester.

DS had 7 or 8 credits each year. I believe 5 or 6 credits/year is 'normal'. That would be one each for history, science, math, English, Foreign Lang, PE or art or music.

My daughter's transcript also showed her 12th grade classes (those she had started and those that were forthcoming in the next two terms). Some were listed as TBA since she was taking some community college classes in the winter and spring terms, and we did not yet know what classes she would get in to.

If you (or someone else) would like to see her transcript, I'd be happy to send you a copy. Simply send me a personal message with your email address.

Kareni
