mo2
Additional grammar and spelling, or is CW enough on its own?
Jenny in Atl
Depends on the age. Many I know just do CW. I like to add more grammar. For younger GWG or R&S. For older AG is a great ten review but we skip the diagraming since we like CW's better. As for spelling, I did Sequential Spelling for a while. DD 12 is now spelling great and I have dropped that. Mama Lynx
You do not need additional grammar. You will likely need additional spelling, though. Most people do not use the spelling in Aesop's, so check it out and see what you think about it. The grammar may seem light in Aesop, but don't worry - it really ramps up in Homer. There is no spelling component in Homer, fyi.
Kathie in VA
CW Aesop -does not require additional grammar... but since it is not big on grammar here it is easy to add it if you wanted to anyway. -does a bit with spelling once a week so you will need to have a separate spelling program. -I would say that it is helpful to have worked through or be working through a separate handwriting and/or typing program. CW Homer -does require additional grammar text. There is much more grammar work at this level but the text you use it up to you. They follow along with the Harvey's grammar but that is not required, you can choose your own text. -no spelling work here except a reminder to check your papers for spelling mistakes and to go over why those words were spelled wrong and/or why they are spelled the way they are spelled. I think the upper levels may expect that the student is working or has worked in a separate formal logic program. hth
Narrow Gate Academy
No additional grammar for Aesop level. They do recommend additional grammar starting with the Homer level. The spelling is based on the WRTR approach. We prefer to just to our own spelling program. On the spelling day we sometimes just cover any vocabulary that I think may be new to my oldest and sometimes we skip it altogether.
