Debra in CO
My 5th grader used the Spectrum Test Prep book for grade 3 when he took the CAT in 3rd grade. I already picked up the 3rd and 5th grade books for my boys for this year. We plan to take the CAT again here. I thought Spectrum Test Prep did a fairly decent job of preparing him. We spent 5-10 minutes a day, about 4 days a week, for the two months before the test. I thought it did a great job of getting him familiar with the syle of questions on a standardized tests, and there was some great stuff on test-taking strategies. I think learning how to take tests is important, but I can't say I want to spend a whole lot of time on it. Roughly ten hours every other year seems about perfect to me :) Debra Mom of five
Teresa in OR
We've used Scoring High. I like it because it is test specific. Debra Bell sells them here: http://www.debrabell.com/Undefined/test.htm and I'm sure you can buy them elsewhere too. We didn't spend a lot of time on it, I just wanted to make sure my dc would be familiar with the format of the test.
