History of the Ancient World and WTM recs.

Recommended Posts

I have the first edition of WTM. What does the newest edition say about how to use SWB's History of the Ancient World?

I can't remember exactly, but it was something like:

- listing important dates in each chapter

- name two or three of the most important individuals in each chapter

- list three or four events that stand out in each chapter

- list people/events/ideas to further investigate

It is a separate study from literature, unlike the 2004 edition.

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to know. I wasn't even sure it was in the new edition. I've placed it on hold at the library so that I can get the details, but what you've told me will get me started in my planning.

LOL, now having told you that, I'm curious if anyone actually uses that plan - there are 80-something chapters in HOAW! I'm thinking (ahead to when we start high school) maybe every three chapters or something....

I have adapted it slightly, my 2 older boys did HOAW last year, and are doing HOMW this year.

They wrote 4 dates down for each chapter, and a sentence about what happened on those dates.

This usually ends up covering the important events and people.

we had to do 3 chapters a week to get through the book.

this year we are only doing 2 chapters a week, and skipping all chapters on China.

If you do end up using HOAW here's a thread that may help you.

Laura K (NC) wrote out a test for parts 1-3 of HOAW.

What have you had your student do with HoAW?

Thanks,
