I am in the Aumsville coop but was wondering if there was a WTM specific gathering.

Have you asked anyone from the co-op? I thought a few years ago there was a WTM group for younger elementary ages, but I don't know if that group is still going. I'll ask around and pm you if I hear of anything. :)

Anyone belong to the HIP Yahoo! Group? Or HGFE? We just recently moved to Portland and this where I've been looking for people to meet.. not specific to WTM, but HSers.

Msg me if you would like links - but you should be able to find it if you did a Yahoo! Group search.

Good to know I'm not alone!!

Hi:-)

I sent you an email with my phone number, but in case it ends up in spam, the meeting is this Friday (August 8th) at 7pm meeting at

Immanuel Reformed Church 4653 Sunnyview Rd NE Salem OR 97305

I will be going through the Trivium stages, so what basic Classical Education is based on...and how Classical Conversations as a weekly program can fit into the Education goals that you have for your family.

CC is very family oriented, and so with this in mind, your younger children are welcome to come and be with the group as we go through the lessons.

CC has a great grammar program and we do lots of fun activities, songs and experiments in the process.

Hi Mom2OregonBoys,

I'm not sure if Classical Conversations is for you, but there's on starting in Medford!

Contact: Jason Bull (541)734-7188. This info is straight off the CC site. I have a whole email that I will pm you about CC. (It's family oriented, and both your children would attend at the same time.)

My dh is already there...we are starting our very first business (and I am scared to death!). We currently live in Pierce County, WA. I am working to get our house rented out, and then we hope to rent in/around Portland for somewhere around $1,000 per month to keep our expenses as low as possible. Can we find something decent that will hold all of us for that much? I know that it will be a sacrifice- we are moving from a pretty big house- but I am excited about what the future has to hold. (and I love Portland!)

I would love some links to co-ops and homeschool loops, as well as any advice that you may have regarding places to live.

Thanks in advance!

IEW seminar would be for adults for sure, and hopefully some of the student seminars, too. I'd especially like the one for the SAT for my oldest.

For co-ops, there's First Class (is that what it's called?) in PDX and then we have Classical Conversations in Salem and will probably have at least one in the immediate PDX area for this coming school year.

I've had enough snow thank you very much. We usually get snow once every three years and only briefly. Our poor sheep and goats! They aren't used to being locked in the barn any more than we are used to being stuck in the house. There, I feel better. Isn't the snow pretty? and the dog's feet don't track in all that mud.....Snow is much cleaner :)

Hey Everyone,

Anyone new in Oregon:-) How's everyone liking the snowwwww??

Carrie:-)

I grew up in the part of Oregon that has several feet of snow at least 4 months of the year. Only got one snow day the whole time I was in High School. It snowed 3ft over night (not unusual), but someone was out sick and din't get the superintendent's street plowed. I think one of the kids bribed someone. :D

I now live in the city and here it is not the snow that bothers me (I know how to drive in the snow) but the idiots who think just because you have a 4x4 you can drive like it's a normal sunny day, then think something is wrong with the vehicle when it doesn't stop on a dime. :001_huh:

We're having our CC info meetings around the Portland area. I've never been able to go to the New Exodus Books and I'm very excited to look around while I'm there. The CC meeting that's being held at Exodus Books is Jan 22nd from 9:30am-12:30am. If you plan on going....it'd be fun to meet you! (Of course on the CC side of other locations, we're having ones in Beaverton, Newberg, McMinnville, Milwaukie, Oregon City, and one of the PDX' Barnes & Noble's.and the Bend area later) LMK if you want more info.

It'd be really fun to have a big get together in the PDX area some time, just for a park day or anything like that. Since I don't live in Portland, I would need someone else to suggest a place.

Classical Conversations are starting their second year in Salem. We'd love to have you come to our Info Mtgs and we have 2 more Open Houses available. There is a Portland group that is hopefully starting this next year....If you're not around here...LMK if you want to find out about a group near you! (This is a group that is Christian in it's worldview, with programs for ages 4- grade 12)

Feel free to PM me, if you'd like:-)

The kids and I are going to OMSI tomorrow, and I just thought I'd check and see if anyone is interested in meeting there. I think we will go after lunch, but I am open to suggestions. PM me if you are interested in meeting up.

That would have been fun! We'll have to meet up some other time:-)

We have our Oregon "social group" and we've talked about all meeting up...course...I think some of us are talking w/o kids:-) But, whatever we do, I'm sure we'll post it on here, too!
