Nestof3
I've looked at samples here: http://intervention.schoolspecialty.com/products/details.cfm?seriesonly=900M and the overview here: http://intervention.schoolspecialty.com/downloads/povs/S-Megawords2.pdf and I am so impressed! I love that it breaks the words down into manageable syllables. I like the organization of the whole thing. I really think this is going to be our spelling program for next year, and I think I'm going to start both my boys with Level 1 -- makes sense, right? I am actually feeling rather excited about this! :D
AudreyTN
UPS just brought mine today. It was sort of an impulse buy... I can't wait to start! :D
charlotteb
My son has been using Megawords for the past 3 years and we LOVE it! It has helped his spelling tremendously.
lovemykids
You now, I love Megawords. It’s been a very good program since my dd actually enjoys it. And I have not had to put that much into it- for all that we are gaining from it. (we have been using it for two years) I was a little perturbed that they had to go and make new editions, forcing me to repurchase TMs for my youngsters. But after mulling it over a bit more, I think Megawords is totally worth the extra money that I will have to spend. :)
plain jane
Yup. We like MegaWords here too. In fact, I recommend it to anybody I encounter. :D In turn, those who go ahead and use it seem to like it as much as I do. It's a great program. It's a great program, and low fuss. :D
lisabees
We like it here as well. I do believe in Andrew Pudewa's theory that many kids learn best by orally spelling words and by naming words that are spelled orally. We use this method periodically with each word list. ElizabethB
I'm a big fan of oral spelling and syllables, and I like the samples! But, I haven't bought because I have plenty of good spelling programs, although not as many spelling programs as phonics programs. (Depending on how you count my collection of old Spellers, if you count them, my Spelling program count would be close to my phonics program count.) Sunshine State Sue
We will finish Megawords 8 today! It is the only subject ds never complains about. We've used it 5th-8th grade. Easy and effective. See my review here.

I use phonics instead of spelling until third grade- same thing really. :) I love phonics! (blended w/ sight words)

Teresa in MO
where would you start a 7th and 8th grader? Would you have to start with book 1?
Sunshine State Sue
Wow! You finished WriteShop and Megawords all in the same week! We will finish LL8 and Critical Thinking (book 1) tomorrow.
Sunshine State Sue
where would you start a 7th and 8th grader? Would you have to start with book 1? Yes. That is where they cover breaking words down into syllables. You can give the students a pre-test and skip some of the reading and/or spelling pages based on the results if you like. deeinfl
I was saving all of my TM in pristine condition and now I read that they have revamped the book and the TM's on CBD are completely different! Bummer! This is why I no longer believe in saving anything and just sell after I'm done using! I guess I'll throw them in the garbage because they are pretty much useless...huh? Dee :(
AudreyTN
I would try to sell them first... someone might buy them. Or post them to Paperbackswap.com

Don't throw it away! Buy used at amazon. They should have the edition you need. By the way, I plan to start Megawords when my daughter starts 4th grade. Out of curiosity, do I really need the TM? Thanks! Susan
