Hunter's Moon
Anyone have any good books that have to do with or are actual accounts of: Civil War World War I World II Vietnam Holocaust So far, I have: The Things They Carried (Vietnam War), Nazi Officer's Wife: How One Jewish Woman Survived the Holocaust, We Are Witnesses (Holocaust), Flags Of Our Fathers (World War II). Any others you can think of? I also have The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass and Uncle Tom's Cabin. Basically any books from 1877-present. I really like real life accounts, not fiction. Even historical fiction.
TravelingChris
Well the Holocaust is not a part of US History. I read a very good book on the Reconstruction, if you would like the name.

If you get this guide, you can have study questions for all of the above books: http://www.bfbooks.com/s.nl/it.A/id.289/.f?sc=2&category=
FloridaLisa
Anyone have any good books that have to do with or are actual accounts of: Civil War Shaara's Killer Angels, about Gettysburg, is not to be missed, IMO. Tells about the battle from North and South perspectives and even this girly-girl understood and enjoyed the excellent battle description. World War I Ds enjoyed Sergeant York (which you could follow with the movie) WWII Just a movie selection here: The Longest Day. One of the top WWII films about the D-day landing on the French beaches. Holocaust Night, Elie Weisel. Short but very poignant. I read it one evening. The Hiding Place, Corrie Ten Boom. Excellent, set in Holland. You could again follow with the movie. But read the book first! Lisa
Hunter's Moon
Night, Elie Weisel. Short but very poignant. I read it one evening. Lisa[/color] Thank you everyone. I had to read Night last summer for school. It was an amazing book. Also, there was another story I read in 8th grade about a girl in the Holocaust. She and her mother were sent to a concentration camp and I remember a guard beat her and she had a bad head injury. It was a good story though. Anyone know what I am speaking of? I can't remember the name for the life of me. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
