Only me
Due to my daughter's ongoing medical problems (insomnia and related issues) dh has agreed to let me keep her home next year (sophomore year). We have decided that she is going to take two classes at the local high school (physical science and French 1). This will help me with a few classes that I'm a bit unsure of and will also make dh happier since he wants her to get some social contact. The school runs on the block schedule, which means that they have 4 classes each semester that run for approximately 90 minutes each day. She would have physical science first semester and French 1 second semester and both would count as a full credit. I'm actually considering doing the rest of her classes that way. The remaining classes she will be taking are: english, math, world history, world cultures and possibly another elective. She did geography this year but it was physical geography. I noticed that the school has a whole year of geography which combines world cultures and physical geography so I thought I would do a semester of world cultures next year. She did algebra in 8th grade but that is when all her medical problems started. We got through the class but she really struggled with it and I'm not sure how much she retained. This year once we found MUS geometry she did great with that. I'm actually considering doing one semester of algebra 1 and one semester of algebra 2. The classes would only be one semester long but she would get a full credit since the classes are 90 minutes long. So I think her schedule would look something like this: Semester 1: physical science (at the school) MUS algebra english World cultures Semester 2 French 1 (at the school) MUS algebra 2 World History She might also do some kind of elective: I'm thinking about giving her 1/4 credit for PE (karate twice a week for an hour which would be 72 hours and Drivers ed for another 1/4 credit. We might also do some kind of ACT prep class for another 1/2 credit since the school does that too. This should give her 8 credits, which would be good since she is a bit behind from last year. Kareni
It looks good; however, I'd be prepared for Algebra 2 to spread beyond one semester (even with 90 minute classes). Regards, Kareni
