5parkers
I am so very confused on what is required for lit/grammar in high school. If my daughter is in 9th grade- should she do a literature program and an English program? And I was reading through some threads where people said to do IEW Windows to the World and Lightning Lit together? Or one a semster and the other the next? My daughter would benefit from writing instruction. Any suggestions for high school grammar? We are coming from Rod and STaff through 8th grade. Thanks !!!! It is common for high school *English* to include grammar, composition, and literature each year. Most often, in schools, those are alternated throughout the year, rather than a semester of grammar/comp and a semester of literature. You could continue to use R&S's English text through 10th, and just add something for literature, such as Lightning Lit, or Smarr.
Grace is Sufficient
high school English courses are generally expected to focus on composition and literature. The beauty of homeschooling, of course, is that you know where your student is in terms of the basic English skills, and where you want them to be, and can tailor the course accordingly.
