Another physics Question- Principle Physics

Recommended Posts

Just starting a new thread off my last that leads me to ask about Principle Physics from Kinetic books. I see a lot of people really like it and it is good prep for CLEP. I like that it has video component but am a little worried that the answers are given to the odds but no solutions. Has that been an issue. I had physics but I was hoping not to have to refresh my memory quite so much that I would need to be working out solutions to the tough questions. Another question I have has anyone tried to correlate the video component of Kinetics with the written portion of both Apologia physics texts?

Thanks so much for your help!:)

I tease my daughter about how she's helping me keep my mind young by working on physics, math, etc. I do the even problems and compare them to her answer. Solutions would be nice sometimes. This doesn't bother us too much--I am a physics major and dh did lots of kinetics as part of his mechanical engineering job.

Do you have a friend who might help if you get stuck? I find myself increasingly helping kids of friends with math and quite enjoy it.

I purchased the solutions manual to Kinetcis Conceptual Physics from Kolbe. (you have to be enrolled to purchase the sm, but they had single course enrollment and Kinetics is cheap.) Someone once explained that the only difference between Conceptual and Principle is the number of chpts.....that the beginning coursework is all the same??? I think that is what they said, but my memory has been really bad lately so I might be remembering incorrectly.

Either way, I think Kolbe offers both levels of the course. The SM is complete solutions (well, I'm pretty sure! I'd actually have to track down ds to ask him, but I am pretty sure that is correct.).

I'm switching from Apologia to KineticBooks for our co-op next year. I ended up purchasing the Conceptual version on a web access license, and the disc and hard copy text of Principles so that I could compare them side by side. There are a couple of extra chapters in Principles, and within some chapters of Principles there are sometimes extra sections.

If you ever get stuck on a problem, you can always post a question here, and someone will likely be able to help.
