JFSinIL
I am so SICK of having to scroll down and set "thread start time" every time i go to a board - I HATE having the threads bounce around out of order, with whichever thread has the most recent POST jumping to the head of the line!!! This is what I miss most from the old boards - there I could EASILY find a thread I was following, since I remembered WHERE it was in relation to other posts! (Having the actual threat start time as part of the thread header also a big help!) I have been to the options area - no place to FIX this annoyance!!!!!!! Of Great Board Elf - please adjust these boards and make the default setting be by Threat Start Time...or give us the means to set that as our FOREVER setting, should we (and most of us do) desire it! always cookin'
I would like to see this too (or at least know how to do it on my own computer). This is my first post on this board. I am finding it time consuming trying to figure out which posts I have seen. I used to be able to pop in periodically and just scroll to where I left off the last time. DIY-DY
Oh, it would be a wonderful addition to the features available on this format! There's gotta be a code guru somewhere who can make that happen! But do we know one? I guess that's the question... If we do, and if he/she will, that would be fantastic! Heather in the Kootenays
I've been wondering that too. I feel exactly the same way.
Janna
I didn't even know about this. However, what I've been doing is just going to the "search" tab, clicking on "advanced" and then typing in my user name and selecting whichever board I know I wrote something on (which so far has only been the general board, so there's no point in having it search all the boards, kwim?) Then it will show all of the posts I have written in. Bold ones mean (I think) that someone responded after I did (whether it was a response to me, I won't know until I look). Anyway, that's the only way I have been able to keep track. Now, if you're following a thread that you haven't participated in, I don't know how you would search that unless you know either who started the thread, or someone who did post in it. The thread start thing...I had no idea. Sounds neat though, if it worked the way you wanted it too.

The thread start thing...I had no idea. Sounds neat though, if it worked the way you wanted it too. At the top of each thread, there are a series of links: "Thread Tools" is one of them. If you click on that, a drop-down window opens and allows you to pick "Subscribe to this thread" as one of your options. Then, when you come to visit, you can go straight to your control panel and view the threads you've "subscribed" to - the ones you want to watch. You can also set your options in your control panel to automatically subscribe to the threads you participate in. You have the option to receive email notification when the thread updates, or not (I don't - just hit the subscribed threads folder first when I come). Also, at the bottom of each forum (General, Curriculum, Networking, etc.) There are three little windows that give you options for displaying the forum. If you click on the first and choose "Thread Start Date", it'll stick the posts in the order they were posted, if you click on the next one and choose "Descending", it'll give you a format very similar to the old format, where they are static. The question asked here is whether it would be possible to tweak the code for the forums to allow us to choose that our "default" setting. As it stands right now, you have to re-do it every time you visit a forum, or even when you use the quick-jump to go back to a main page from a thread. (Clear as mud? ;) ) Anyway, I hope that helped a little. It might make your searching easier, anyway. :)
Storm Bay
Subscribe to thread is nice, but I understand that sometimes we want to see all the new threads in a row. Have you tried pressing Ctrl End? It's faster than scrolling down. Since all cookies are deleted when you sign out, I'm not sure about how you'd change it permanently. Unicorn.
I have been wondering the same thing! Oh Master Jedi Bob, Pleeeeaaaaase say there's a way!!
Sebastian (a lady)
Great Board Elf - please adjust these boards and make the default setting be by Threat Start Time...or give us the means to set that as our FOREVER setting, should we (and most of us do) desire it! I'd love this too. It seems like the current rolling list duplicates what you can achieve by hitting New Posts. I feel like I'm frequently missing threads. Scarlett
Before you log out or even leave your computer be sure and mark 'all threads read'. That helps. And use the back button as you are going through the threads instead of hitting new posts again.
